Lights Camera Chaos: Lets Dive Deep into The Backend of Movie Making

Whether you’re watching an epic science-fiction saga or superhero action movie you only see the two hour movie. But only a few people can understand what goes behind the logistics of the movie. It is mind-boggling that every explosion and effects within the movie goes hours of shooting VFX planning and intense chaos.

Today we are going to dissect everything that happens behind the movie. Let’s take a dig at it.

Pre Planning

Before the shoot of the movie lots of planning takes place. It is not easy to just go and shoot the movie. The pre planning phase takes place beforehand. It has three phases.

● Script

● Casting

● Set and location selection

Script

Multiple drafts and meetings with the producers happen before the writer selects the complete storyline. Many meetings with actors also happen so the writer can understand each aspect of each character as per casting.

Casting

Casting agents as well as directors need to select actors according to the roles. This can take months. Because selecting a good actor that will fit with the character of the story takes a lot of work.

Set and Location Selection

Sometimes the locations are selected from the real world scenarios. However, if that location does not exist in nature or the real world the team then works from scratch to build the perfect set in the studios.

Every body such as production designers, wardrobe designers as well as artists of the storyboard work alongside the concept artist to shape the perfect visual and tone for the movie.

Production

This is the part where real magic happens. Production is the phase where cameras start to roll and the process of filmmaking starts. Sometimes it takes hundreds of days with hundreds of people to shoot a perfect single scene. Each phase and key aspects of shooting a scene include.

● Directors

● Special effect team

● Cinematographers

● Stunt coordinators

Director

To take the best performance from the actors and guide them through that performance by selecting the perfect pace and tone for every scene with respect to each actor, everything is decided by the director.

Special Effect Team

Physical effects such as prosthetics and bomb blast as well as the stimulations of the weather are the work of the special effects team. Everything happens through them.

Cinematographers

The look of the film such as the lighting movement of the camera as well as frames, everything is decided by the cinematographers.

Stunt Coordinators

There are proper coordinators who design every stunt. When the fight happens on the screen, it just does not happen casually. Every fist and leg is planned completely. The sequences are designed in a way that ensures the safety of the actors. Each stunt is designed to deliver the best performance from the actors.

Conclusion

In the end everything that happens in the movie is not just what seems on the big screen. There is a lot of work that is constantly happening in the background of the movie. From the characters and actors of the movie to the sport boy everyone works really hard to make the movie a complete success.
